Network Uptime Housekeeping
For those of you who've followed Network Uptime through the years, the web site has undergone quite a few changes. The site has migrated through some simple HTML pages, moves between web hosting providers, and the most recent migration of the site to a Movable Type engine.
Although the current Network Uptime runs on the latest version of MT, it wasn't always this way. The site still retains many of the older stylesheet configurations and file information from the older versions. Because of these migrations, I had managed to break a lot of the MT functionality associated with comments and some of the back-end processes.
Well, today, those problems are behind me. Yesterday I managed to corrupt the database containing all of the templates and web site entries, so I've completely rebuilt the web site. I had backups (yes!), so I didn't lose any information. Since the structure of the web site is contained in the database, I managed to preserve everything.
One of the by-products of this update is that comments seen to be working again! I'm requiring that anyone commenting register with a free TypePad account, but this shouldn't be much of a problem for most folks. Comment-spam on blogs is a bad problem, and I'm trying to keep the web site availability at a maximum.
We'll see how it goes. As usual, send me an email if you have any questions!
