Network Uptime, Back Again
It's been a long time, hasn't it?
Network Uptime has been on hiatus, but I'm now back with a redesigned site and a new outlook on networking. The newsletter is gone, replaced with RSS and Atom feeds. The old articles have been moved to this new blog-based format, allowing you to leave comments and feedback for others to view.
If you're not familiar with RSS or Atom, you need to read this very important information from our good friends at LockerGnome:
http://channels.lockergnome.com/rss/
Once you start taking advantage of these new XML-based technologies, you'll be amazed by the potential. As new content is added to Network Uptime, you'll see the new article identified immediately in your RSS or Atom client.
This negates the requirement for a periodic email message! The advent of spam has almost made email publishing a thing of the past, and I'd rather switch than fight. :)
Of course, I don't get spam. Actually, I get about 500 messages a day that can be categorized as spam, but I never see them. I use Mailblocks as my mail server, and all of my email is white-listed. If you send me a message, you'll get a response from mailblocks to authenticate yourself before the message can be forwarded to my Inbox.
For those interested, go to http://www.mailblocks.com.
The world of the network analyst has changed slightly over the last few years. The network infrastructure has become more redundant and more resilient, but applications still run just as poorly. :) Security has become a huge focus, and the industry has been attacking the security issue from many different perspectives.
You'll continue to see network-related information on Network Uptime, but you'll also see other non-network content posted as well. I've set up different categories, so you can easily browse the site for your specific interests.
So, we're off. Hang on, everyone!
